Why do you need BLS certification and classes?

The COVID-19 pandemic reminded the entire world the need for instant care to be taken for a person facing breathing difficulties. Patients must be given medical care immediately for someone with respiratory problems and/or cardiac arrest. In these situations, BLS must be the first course of action that needs to be taken. BLS or Basic Life Support is a CPR and AED skill which teaches the method of saving a person’s life if the help is provided immediately. Our American Heart Association training site provides the best BLS classes and BLS certification in San Diego. Before taking the course, it is important to understand what BLS means and why it is important when saving someone’s life.

What is BLS?

BLS stands for basic life support and refers to the type of response that healthcare providers, first-responders and public safety professionals provide to an individual experiencing respiratory distress, an obstructed airway or cardiac arrest. Basic life support requires knowledge and skills in using automated external defibrillators (AEDs), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and the relief of airway obstructions in a patient of any age.

Importance of BLS

BLS can save lives since the first few minutes of care are important for a patient or victim. It can help those who have drowned, are choking, or are suffering from a cardiac arrest. Timely BLS can even make the difference between life and death for your patient or victim. It is an essential part of all EMS training courses with life-saving techniques and procedures such as CPR.

BLS can save a person’s life if administered as quickly and efficiently as possible in a life-threatening situation. Since advanced professional help might take too long to arrive on the scene, this might negatively affect the person’s chances of surviving. Therefore, BLS certification and BLS Classes are excellent for these types of situations. For the best San Diego BLS Certification, attend our American Heart Association BLS classes.
